Our Fleet // Santa Regina

The 14588 ton, 1300 lane metre Santa Regina operates under the Bluebridge passenger brand but is a key provider of Strait Shipping's freight offering.

Suitable for every type of freight from livestock to breakbulk or overdimensional loads, the Santa Regina sails twice daily from both Picton and Wellington.

Traveling at a service speed of 18 knots, the Santa Regina runs two Pielstick diesel engines and features two bow thrusters and Denny Brown stabilisers.

Driver facilities onboard the Santa Regina include two berth cabin, showers and laundry facilities. Drivers also enjoy freshly prepared, hearty meals.

Previously operating an overnight service between Marseilles and Corsica in the Mediterranean, the Santa Regina arrived in New Zealand in December 2002 and after a major upgrade in preparation for passenger service, joined the Cook Strait route in early 2003.

The Santa Regina was built by Ateliers et Chantiers in Le Havre France in 1985. With an overall length of 137 metres and a draft of six metres the imposing Santa Regina is one of Cook Strait's most loved vessels.
